Q. How many people can Moss Bay Events accommodate?
This space can seat up to 160 for a sit-down dinner and provide a party setting for up to 200 people. Also, in warm weather the outdoor patio can host additional guests for combined indoor-outdoor seating.
Q. What are my payment options?
We have three ways to handle payment. 1) Paying in full when you reserve the mbec - by doing so you will receive a 5% discount. 2) You can reserve your date by putting a 20% deposit down (plus damage deposit) - the balance will be due 30 days prior to your event. 3) You can make four equal monthly payments to spread out the cost (damage deposit must be paid with the 1st payment). Q. Is there any discount for paying the entire rental fee at the time of the space reservation?
Yes, there is a 10% discount if the entire rental fee is paid at the time of registration, and the event is scheduled at least two months after the reservation.
Q. Are there any last-minute room rental discounts?
Yes - if you are planning a last-minute event or need to change your venue unexpectedly, this is for you! If you book your room within 30 days of the event and pay in full at the time of booking, you will receive a 30% discount.*
Q. Are there any additional fees I need to be aware of other than the per person / per hour charges?
Yes - there is a $0.25/person/hr charge for cleanup for catered events & a $0.50/person/hr. charge for NON-catered events.
Q. Am I required to make a damage deposit?
Yes - MB will run a $300 approval on your credit card 3 days prior to your event. This is not a charge - but our way of making sure you can cover at least that amount in damages. If there is damages to the center (inc but not limited to: chairs, tables, floors, audio/video equipment, kitchen area etc) or excessive amount of trash or maintenance required we will run your card in the appropriate amount to offset the additional costs.
Q. Do I get a discount if I book a business meeting every month?
Yes - we do have a multiple booking discount, and not just for business meetings. Whether you are an event planner and frequently book venues for your clients or are a business owner looking for a space to hold your monthly meetings, you will receive a 15% discount off every date you book subsequent to your first booking.
Q. What is and isn’t included with our rental?
Rental of the Center includes space use, indoor tables & chairs, cocktail tables, patio tables & chairs (see options below) and basic set-up of tables and chairs. Also included is use of our AV system (including CD and DVD players, overhead projector w/ 100-inch screen). An on-site Moss Bay staff member will be there throughout your event to help with your group's needs. Hourly on-site parking is on a space available basis. Not included in the event is catering, linen, decorations, valet parking, flowers, or errand-running. For more details please contact us by phone.
Q. What if we decide to extend our party at the last minute?
For evening events we are willing to extend your party hours as a courtesy to you, but because our on-site supervisor and cleanup crew will be encumbered by this unexpected change, unless you notify us 3 days prior to your event you will be charged a $200 service fee in addition to the cost for the additional time, billed at your original guest count.
Q. What if we decide to extend daytime events beyond our scheduled ending time?
The same policy applies to daytime events that is used for evening events [see above]. However, in the event that the Center is scheduled for use right after your event, it is not possible to extend your daytime event.

Q. Is there an extra charge for FRI and SAT night rentals? Holidays?
No - but we do require weekend parties to have a minimum of 75 guests and have a minimum of four hrs rental time.
Q. Are there any restrictions on choice of catering?
No restrictions: Moss Bay staff can help you locate a short list of preferred caterers at no charge.
Q. Do you have a kitchen?
We have 6 feet of counter space, a double sink, a warming oven and a full-size fridge.
Q. Is there a view from the facility?
Moss Bay Center is on the ground floor, with large windows. You can see the Space Needle and the Olympic Mountains. As you walk outside and along the over-water boardwalk, you can see all of Lake Union, the Aurora Bridge, Gas Works Park, the Sleepless In Seattle houseboat and of course many different types of boats and seaplanes.
Q. If we have to cancel our event, what happens to the 20% "reusable" deposit?
Your deposit is reusable within 16 months if you cancel your reservation at least 30 days before the event. If the event is cancelled less than 30 days prior, your deposit is forfeited. If you have paid the balance and need to cancel your event less then 30 days prior your total cost is non-refundable - but re-usable for 16 months.
Q. When is final payment and the signed Rental Agreement due for a reserved event and is there a damage deposit?
Final payment and the signed Rental Agreement, as well as banquet permit and floor plan are due 30 days prior to your scheduled event. Also, a credit card pre-authorization is signed for damages that are attributable to the event. On the day of the event renters will be able to complete a "Pre-existing Damage Form” to ensure that no damage charges are incurred for pre-existing damage.
Q. What are rules and restrictions about alcohol consumption on-site?
A. Alcohol can be served to adults at the Center provided that there is no charge by the event host. You are required to have an alcohol permit displayed at your event. No alcohol is allowed on the patio area (no exceptions).
Q. What is its appeal as a venue for business seminars and continuing education programs?
Three reasons: picturesque ground floor waterfront location for up to 200 course participants, fully functional overhead projection and wireless technology, and our staff talent in hosting luncheons from a variety of quality catering options. The site can also be rented for corporate breakfast meetings and association luncheons.
Q. Fully wired for overhead projection, DVD, wireless service, and other multi-media presentations?
Yes, Moss Bay Center is fully equipped for DVD, overhead projection, wireless service and other multi-media presentations. Lighting in the Center can also be dimmed and pull-down transparent sunscreens are used to adequately darken the room.
Q. For education seminars and programs, what are the additional charges for table coverings, refreshments, catered luncheons?
Moss Bay provides the room, tables, and chairs for events with the basic rental fee. Additional charges are made for table skirts, snacks and beverage service, waiters, meals and other requested amenities.
Q. How can we overcome parking problems?
Daytime use of the hourly parking lot is seldom a problem. Evening parking can be a challenge in the summertime. Come early - before 6:30pm; carpool; be willing to walk from an adjacent parking lot.
Q. What about boating opportunities for our event at Moss Bay?
During daylight hours Center guests can go kayaking, sailing, motor sailing, or use self-guided electric boats for up to 15 guests. Charges vary for the different boats. See www.mossbay.net for boat rental fees.
Q. For family events, is the waterfront next to Moss Bay safe for children?
There are piers adjacent to our facility. As with any accessible waterfront situation, non-swimmers must be protected from falling into the water. There is a children's play area on-site, which kids can safely enjoy. The over-water walkway is fenced, but the piers are not.
Q. Do you host birthday parties or other events for very young children?
We offer special 2 hr kid parties (up to 20 quests) for $200. Parties must end by 4pm on weekdays and 3:30pm on weekends. We also offer children's events at 50% of adult rates, for children under the age of 16. However, 50% of the attendees at children's events must also be children for the discount to apply. Regular attendee minimums (25 ppl weekday and 100 ppl weekend inc FRI) and rental time apply (4 hrs minimum).
